Homer is pretty sheltered from the storm... and the market has remained stable... some correction from the over priced listings.. but all in all market is good and very busy right now.. interest rates are still low, the 8,000 credit is good till the end of November... and so buyers are looking and buying if the price is right... Alaska in general is doing very well...

Homer has become Alaska's Laguna Beach. It's become popular with a lot of outside Buyers and many local too. That being said, no place is immune to big swings, including Homer, AK.

Check with a local Realtor and get reports from the MLS that show actual sales over a period of time...1 yr, 2 yrs, etc for the specific building type you are interested in....residential, commercial, etc.

The is too much info out there anymore to ponder "what if" scenarios. With the right Realtor you can empower yourself with factual info to reduce your risk...it is this reduction of risk that will best protect you more than anything else.
