It can generate a bit of interest, but by and large, not much. Many will recognize it as a refreshed listing on the MLS, and days on market will stay the same (at least in Metrolist). Not much to be gained by doing this, unless you've added new photos, substantially changed the information, etc.
However, I recommend trying anything and anything to generate new interest, so give anything a whirl.
This may generate new interest and make the listing appear "new" at a glance.
The days on market will be the same.
Like Chuck said in his answer changing main picture or some description items can help as well.
More than 6 months? Does the outside front picture have snow on the ground???
If so, A summer picture may help.

Some MLS associations will not allow this. A price change will also alert all subscribing agents in MLS.
It will come up as a new listing (listing history check will show how long the property has actually been on the market) but will act, in all other ways, as a new listing. As stated in previous answers, if this is coupled with other changes to the listing (like pictures, text, features, etc.) especially price, this can be very effective in getting new interest.
Good luck.

It can - especially if pictures are switched out for seasonal ones, and the verbiage is changed. It's so inexpensive to do this, I don't know why it's not a more common practice.
Doc - sure it will. It'll come up as a new listing and even though listing history will show it's been previously listed, it will surface for all the Realtors who have a criteria search entered in the MLS for their Buyers.

Dear Doc,
This is called refreshing the listing, and it is likely to generate new interest.
Thanks,
