Our va loan has been in manual underwriting for six weeks now whenever i ask our loan officer about the
length of time he says he has seen this before and hat it is not unusual these days, does this seem right?

Yes, unfortunately underwriting for all loans is taking longer than it used to. Keep on top of it in writing and try to have patience.
