Well to be honest with you, the area is QUICKLY falling apart, yet the taxes are continually increasing!! I moved out of Wantage Twp.(Sussex, Nj) 3 years ago to NC where the cost of living was much better. Sussex county is a beautiful place to raise your children, however it is HORRIBLE in the winter to travel the unkept roads, the cost to heat your home is out of site, and the school systems are HORRIBLE!! My mother was a teacher in the Sussex Wantage school system for her whole teaching career, and the teachers she is still friends with are MISERABLE!! Schools are falling apart, administration is awful, and like I said...taxes are increasing but you are getting NOTHING for your money. I don't think that you will find a townhouse in a great neighborhood for the reasonable price, however you have to take the good with the bad......you sacrafice cost for education...is it worth it??? Hope this helps!

Evie,
I moved to the Sussex/Wantage school district in 2004. I have 3 children. One graduated from High Point Regional High School in 2007 and is about to graduate from Sussex County Community College tomorrow. My second graduated from Sussex Middle School in 2006 and now attends Sussex County Tech. My little guy has been through all 3 elementary schools and is currently in the Sussex Middle School. All of my children have said that they are happier here then they were in Bergen County. The kids are friendlier. I have not been disappointed with their educations. You can use the website mentioned in the other response or you can try the district factor reports in NJ to get some more information. I can also send you a personal school report from my website if you would like.
There are 4 public schools in the Sussex/Wantage School District. Clifton Lawrence is K-2, Wantage School is 3-5, Sussex Middle School is 6-8 and High Point is 9-12. There is a Charter School 6-8, Sussex Tech 9-12 for technical studies. There is a Christian School in town. We are a busing district. That was hard for me ther first day! I have found Sussex County to be a great place to live, the people always wave hi and are always willing to talk or help out. You can also check out the Wantage Township website to get some more information.

Hope this helps.
