A school for the self starter, for the motivated. A school where you can grow your own way, with encouragement and support. Cliques are discouraged, competition is between you and yourself, students help one another in all ways, everyone goes to dances and proms, there is no artificial division by age

Academic programs are better than some public schools, but mostly because classes are smaller. Student/teacher interaction is encouraged to a point. Teaching methods are primarily audio-sequential and not particularly innovative, alternative or progressive. Same old stuff. The school is supposed to
... Read more specialize in music, dance, theatre and art. The art room is small and crowded, supplies limited. The number of choices of art classes is small. There is only one music teacher to teach the different classes. The theatre classes are also very limited. Dance is really the focus. So if your student is into dance it might be a good place. The principal is more concerned with discipline than the quality of experience for the individual student. He obviously likes some, dislikes others. Read less

My kids attend Blue Ridge Mid School. It's a very good school. The teachers are mostly terrific however the class size is growing. It's not uncommon to have 30 in a classroom.

Students are treated with respect and there is a true appreciation between teachers and students. Kathy, the glue.. really holds it all together and is professional, friendly and someone you can really trust. Mr. Quitter is awesome. Caring staff and creative environment.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.

Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
